Dr. Peca is worldly-wise, having her Ph.D. in Psychology emphasizing Cognition and Instruction. She has over 18 years of experience in various settings, including adolescent shelters, outpatient adult mental health, inpatient psychiatric units, schools, and specialty projects targeting physical and sexualized trauma.
Upon completing a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at ASU, Camea embarked on an enriching decade-long journey studying and working abroad.
Her academic pursuits culminated in an MSc in Psychoanalytic Development Psychology from the Anna Freud Center/University College London, where she conducted groundbreaking research on Sensory Integration Therapy and Tactile and Vestibular Processing Disorder as part of her dissertation.
Throughout her studies, Camea was trained by industry pioneers in attachment and infant development, including Dr. Peter Fonagy and Mary Target.
The journey of further education started afterward to add more dynamic ways to help clients heal leading her to the expressive arts.
This thirst for new tools and ways to aid the healing process has helped Camea became a highly qualified and experienced practitioner. Camea obtained a Graduate Diploma in the Application of Arts in Therapy and Education, followed by a Graduate Diploma in Child Counselling using the Expressive Arts at the Institute for Arts and Therapy in Education, London. Subsequently, she pursued an MA in Integrative Arts
Psychotherapy, which involved working with the Child Center for Mental Health and receiving specialty training from experts in expressive arts, as well as Sir Richard Bowlby, Dr. Dan Hughes, Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, and Dr. Bruce Perry. During this time she was able to work with Dr. Margot Sunderland and participate in the “Helping Where It Hurts” program.
Camea’s dedication to her field is evident in her academic achievements, including a Ph.D. in Psychology emphasizing Cognition and Instruction. Moreover, her Ph.D. in Psychology with an emphasis on Cognition and Instruction included a qualitative research study investigating the relationship between Interoceptive Awareness, Parental Attachment, and Parenting Stress in foster parents caring for children who have survived sexual abuse. Since completing her diploma and always in the quest for personal growth and ways to serve, Camea certified as a Trauma and Resilience Life Coach, as well as getting certified in Embodied Facilitation. Camea is highly skilled and compassionate, committed to helping her clients achieve their goals through a customized approach.
Camea has extensive experience in various professional settings, including adolescent shelters, outpatient adult mental health, inpatient psychiatric units, schools, and trauma-focused projects. She has also led initiatives for Young Careers in inner city London, served as a Child Development Specialist and Lead Trainer for Baby Sensory in the USA, and developed Executive Functioning training for coaches in the Valley.
Camea spent over five years as a Trauma Specialist in a local specialty service and has built her private practice.

As a “trauma mama” and domestic violence survivor, she specializes in early developmental trauma and attachment-based coaching. She utilizes expressive arts, somatic, and sensory-based modalities. She understands and supports people in their healing more effectively because she has learned more from own adult trauma life experiences than books. With over 20 years of experience working with neuro-diverse individuals, Dr. Camea welcomes all diversity, orientations, and quirks.
Dr Peca believes in a strength-based approach and as a neurodivergent woman herself she feels that you can use these strengths to develop ways to live a life that serves you. As a Trauma & Resilience Coach and Growth Guide, she supports adults in healing trauma from the inside out, utilizing body-based self-regulation, nutrition, and holistic healing.
Nutrition is one of her main focuses using food to help the healing process and improving mood. Dr. Camea is a Senior Faculty Member at the Arizona Trauma Institute as well as a course contributor in Trauma and Resilience Life Coaching Certification and Trauma Informed Care certification for organizations.
Her extensive international training and clinical expertise enable her to offer dynamic, experiential training and individual/professional consultation to Arizona Trauma Institute. More recently she has designed
a unique curriculum and been appointed Director of Programming for Ruth Place which will be a model community-based service for survivors of sexual abuse targeting Brain/Body education, self-regulation and post-traumatic growth. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the non-profit, Children’s Mindfulness Coalition.
Dr. Camea holds certifications as a Trauma Specialist, Trauma and Resilience Life Coach, and Trauma Instructor for individuals, families, and organizations. Additionally, she is a member of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress and the American Association of Natural Wellness Coaches.
Dr. Camea is a mentor and trainer for Arizona Trauma Institute in Trauma and Resilience Life Coaching and Trauma Informed Care certification for organizations. Her extensive international training and clinical expertise enable her to offer dynamic, experiential training and individual/professional consultation to Arizona Trauma Institute’s clients.
